Features:
Connected Narrative:
In contrast to most RPGs, the games in the Trails series share a common story and world (the continent of Zemuria). Characters and events often move between different arcs (Liberl, Crossbell, Erebonia, and Calvard).
Dynamic NPC Stories:
All of the Non-Playable Characters (NPCs) have names and their own developing life story. Most of the NPC dialogue changes as the overall story line continues.
The Orbment Magic System:
Characters don’t learn spells like they would in nature, instead they are given devices called “Orbments”. These devices can be activated by inserting elemental “Quartz” into the device, allowing players the ability to modify stats and unlock awesome spells called Arts.
Crafts & Combat Mechanics:
Characters have individual combat abilities known as “Crafts” (use of CP) and ultimate “S-Craft” attacks. Later titles add things such as link attacks, team combos and overdriving modes.
